Η Λέσβος είναι το τρίτο σε μέγεθος νησί της Ελλάδας μετά την Κρήτη και την Εύβοια.Έχει πληθυσμό 85.330 κατοίκους,σύμφωνα με την Απογραφή του 2011.Βρίσκεται απέναντι από τις τουρκικές ακτές.Είναι εύφορο νησί, κατάφυτο από πευκώνες και ελαιώνες,με έντονες εναλλαγές των τοπίων. Περίπου 11.000.000 ελαιόδενδρα φύονται στη Λέσβο,δημιουργώντας έναν συνεχή,μεγάλο ελαιώνα.Έχει δύο κόλπους.Ο μεγαλύτερος είναι της Καλλονής,φημισμένος για τη σαρδέλα της και ο μικρότερος είναι αυτός της Γέρας.
