Come Out Ye Black And Tans - The Wolfe Tones (Cover) by Seth Staton Watkins It's finally here! I know many of you have requested a full version of this song for a few weeks now and I apologize for the delay. "Come Out Ye Black and Tans" is an Irish rebel song about the Irish war of independence. The "black and tans" refers to the color of the uniform worn by the British reinforcements stationed in Dublin to reinforce the Royal Irish Constabulary (RIC) in 1920. The song was written by Dominic Behan as a tribute to his Irish Republican Army (IRA) father Stephen, who had fought in the War of Independence. The song though referencing the war of independence is about the dispute between republican and unionist neighbors in inner-city Dublin in the Irish Free State era of the mid-1920s.
