Skiers and Snowboarders love Niseko Japan for its constant powder snow. But there are many other reasons that Niseko is special. Here are 9: 1) Rhythm Japan: Rhythm is a ski and snowboard store with several locations in Japan. The store at the base of Niseko is incredible. Beautiful architecture. Great music. Very modern. And you can have a drink at the bar! Definitely worth checking out when you are in Niseko. https://www.rhythmjapan.com/ 2) Food Trucks: If you want to experience a fun food truck scene, head to Grand Hirafu. Indian, Pizza, Seafood... so many options. It is a fun, quick break from the restaurant scene. 3) Single Seat Chairlift: Niseko of course has modern gondolas and quad chairlifts. But it also has a few old-fashioned single-seat chairlifts. The first chairlifts in the early days of skiing were single-seat, but as skiing became more popular, resorts began installing larger chairlifts and gondolas to increase how many people could get to the top of the mountain per hour. Niseko still has some single-seat chairlifts, so you can experience what the original chairlifts were like. 4) Mount Yotei: No matter where you are on the mountain in Niseko, you can see Mount Yotei, a volcano that rises to 1,878 meters. Don't worry - Mount Yotei has not erupted since 1050 BC, so you should be pretty safe. 5) Lunch Options: Japan is becoming increasingly popular for foreign skiers and snowboarders. As a result, Niseko caters to a broad variety of palates, making your lunch food options a lot more diverse than they are in North America or Europe. 6) Night Skiing: Given that the snow seems to fall constantly in Niseko, night skiing is like nowhere else. You have a great chance of skiing in a blizzard under the lights! 7) Ikon Pass: The Ikon pass is a multi-resort pass that provides you access to many resorts in North America and Europe. Niseko is the only winter resort in Japan that is also accessible with the Ikon pass. 8) Taste-test: Japan has incredible food. You can use your trip to Niseko to sample all that Japanese cuisine has to offer, whether it be the food trucks in Grand Hirafu, Hokkaido's famous seafood, or even Japanese candy. 9) The Summit: If you have the energy, you should definitely take the opportunity to hike a bit above the chairlifts to the summit. No trees, great snow, and the best views.
