In this video we read from "The Story of Colorado, Out Where the West Begins," by Arthur Chapman, published all the way back in 1924. We also read a story printed in the July 1949 issue of the Quarterly Journal of the New York State Historical Association. These stories concern General Zebulon Pike's expedition to Colorado in 1806, and his death in the War of 1812 at the Battle of York, or present day Toronto.
