Mezlan Presents... http://mezlanchicago.com/ Sir Marc Isambard Brunel was a French engineer born on April 25, 1769, Later settling in England. Brunel crafted many inventions, including machinery for sawing timber, knitting, and printing. His most famous achievement was the construction of the Thames Tunnel. In 1809, Brunel discovered the terrible condition that the British soldiers feet were in, so he decided to invent a series of machines to mass-produce boots and shoes for them. They were so successful that in 1812 the British government persuaded him to expand the production, but before it could reach full capacity, demand ceased due to the end of the Napoleonic Wars. In 1841, Brunel was knighted by the young Queen Victoria but sadly he passed away on December 12, 1849 at the age of 80.
