Char Kway Teow (炒粿條) is an Asian dish consisting of flat noodles, prawns or shrimps, cockles, Chinese sausage, beansprouts and eggs. The ingredients are stir fried in a Chinese Wok over high heat, giving it an aromatic charred taste and smell. Char Kway Teow is seasoned with a mix of soy sauce, giving it a sweet and savoury taste. A splash of chili sauce is sometimes added to give the Kway Teow a spicy taste. Char Kway Teow is sometimes spelled as Char Koay Teow in Penang (檳城炒粿條). Another local name would be Kway Teow Goreng in Malaysia. There are several renditions of char koay teow found in Penang, with some street food vendors adding crab meat and even duck egg while stir frying the noodles.
