#shenyang #918museum #china This video tells the story of discovering Shenyang's 9 18 Museum. This museum tells the story of the people of Shenyang and the north east of China in their fight against the oppression of Japan in this period of history and how the Chinese people fought back to overcome this act of aggression over the next fourteen years. On hearing a siren going off on the morning of September 18th i had become intrigued into learning more about this annual event as well as the museum itself. After an online search and reading some reviews I visited the museum. I first took the subway to the city's North Railway Station and from there I took a local bus, number 325 as that service stops directly opposite the museum entrance. several reviews I read claimed that photography was not permitted inside the museum. There was no evidence of that during my visit. Lots of people were taking videos just as I was doing. Another comment amongst the reviews that was often repeated was the horrific nature of the images and the museum is unsuitable for children. Well this was a period of wartime, war is horrific and sadly inhumane events occur in wartime. And the purpose of this museum is to educate its future citizens through educational visits. Schools arrange trips here for that purpose and on my visit I witnessed several parents explaining to their children the significance of the images exhibited. No children seemed to be haunted by their visit here, they were learning their city's history. Maybe in western countries we are becoming too wrapped up in cotton wool. there is little to no commentary in this video apart from my usual introduction, I left the audio as it was recorded on the day of my visit.
