This amazing palace served as a seat of government and residence of Bavarian Dukes and Kings from 1508 to 1918. Amongst them were famous Bavarian rulers like Ludwig I and King Ludwig II, the Fairytale King and creator of Neuschwanstein Castle 🦢🧚🏻‍♀️ There are over 100 rooms at the residence to see including an opera house and you could honestly spend half a day wandering around all of this beauty if you had the time. ✨ My favourite room of them all was the Antiquarium which is the largest and oldest room in Munich Residence. It’s 66 metres long and has paintings of Bavaria and the Alps. 🗻 This room made me feel like Anastasia in ‘Once Upon a December’ 💃🏻 Duke Albrecht V had it built from 1568 to 1571 for his collection of antique sculptures, hence the name "Antiquarium". 🤴🏻 But, you will also find many rooms like the Shell Grotto 🐚 the Green Room 💚 and hundreds of staterooms. It was incredible. Here are my top tips for visiting; ⏰Visit early for fewer crowds 📸To see the Antiquarium room empty get there around 10 minutes before opening time 🎟️You can’t buy tickets online, you can only buy them on the day 🎭You need to pay extra to see the Opera House, I didn’t have time but it looks worth it 🎒Backpacks and tripods are not allowed, you have to store them in the free bag lockers 🚶🏻‍♀️Don’t feel like you have to see ALL the rooms, it could take a whole day. There are shortcuts if you want to skip some. 📍 Munich, Germany 🧚🏻‍♀️ Like this post? Make sure to follow @thirdeyetraveller for more magical places and guides!
