Professor Baar is an energetic man on a mission, to get all of us to live life to the fullest. The best way he knows to give us that opportunity is to become physically fit. While there are many exercise regimes floating around, he and his equally energetic Kelpie shows you a method guaranteed to get you off your couch. Keith Baar recently joined the UC Davis faculty after 5 years leading a laboratory in Scotland. Over the last 20 years, Keith has worked with elite athletes, as a strength coach/scientific advisor to the University of Michigan Football team, Chelsea Football Club, British Cycling, and The English Institute of Sport. He has also worked with students and the public to promote activity and to maximize the effects of training for both endurance and strength. His research is focused on determining the molecular mechanisms underlying the physiological and functional adaptations of muscle to exercise in the hopes of developing strategies to prevent frailty due to aging and disease.
