The 10th edition of Amsterdam Art Week drew to a successful close on Sunday 15 May 2022, featuring 65 participating galleries, museums, project spaces and residencies from the city centre, north, south, east and west Amsterdam. Amsterdam Art Week brings together collectors, curators and the art-loving public for a stand-out celebration, featuring critically acclaimed exhibitions alongside screenings, artists talks, performances and special events. We would like to thank all those who joined us over the Amsterdam Art Week in the bright sunshine for a very memorable art experience, taking in the art, in all its forms, throughout the city. This week, Amsterdam’s art scene was alive and kicking with contemporary art, more than ever. The city offers a solid foundation for international art talent, thanks to the post-academic residencies of the Rijksakademie, De Ateliers, and the many galleries and project spaces scattered throughout the city. Amsterdam Art’s participating cultural spaces produced/displayed exhibitions by established and emerging talents, including Antonio Obà at Oude Kerk, Maaike Schoorel at Amsterdam Museum x Huis Willet Holthuys, Molly Palmer at AKINCI, Paulo Nazareth at Stevenson, Charles Avery at GRIMM, Sadik Kwaish Alfraji at W139, and Kévin Bray at ISO and Het HEM. One of the highlights of Amsterdam Art Week’s extensive programme was the evening at the Eye Filmmuseum with Julia Stoschek, a specially curated selection of her collection of time-based art, followed by a sparkling afterparty with DJ, mayo (Marjolein Hoppen). To celebrate the end of a fantastic week, Brechje de Koning Producties has created an Aftermovie that looks back on the highlights from the galleries, museums and project space. We hope you enjoy!
