How to tilt your Manual Start Mercury 9.9hp To tilt your motor in the up position: 1. Turn motor off 2. Put tiller on forward mode 3. Push down on tiller handle 4. Voila, the motor is now locked in the tilt position To tilt your motor in the down position: 1. Tilt the outboard all the way back fully 2. Then drop it down 3.
