This song is the private ceremony that bares witness to and makes real what we will to be, though commonly said at the end of a prayer it is in many ways just the beginning of one. To me, “amen” is the certainty of spirit in sometimes very uncertain times. That quiet friend or loud witness that we will surely see it through. Recognised across borders, used across many languages and cultures it translates, “with certainty”, “so it be”, referring to something that is fixed and sure. In this particular song it is about thinking of anything that is a manifestation, a prayer and then singing along to this song as a backdrop of that which is hoped for as though it is, so as to say it is done.
