Are you ready for the adventure of a lifetime? She Walks the Walk and TropEcoTravel join forces to launch this challenging trek through one of the oldest rainforests on earth (140 million years old vs the Amazon, which is just a baby at 55 million years!). No wonder Borneo is home to the tallest trees in the tropics... Join us for some ladder scaling, crazy humidity, jungle critters and zero bars! This trip is all about ISOLATION and CONQUERING YOURSELF. We're heading to an area that requires special permits and was only recently explored in the mid '80s. Are you bold enough?! Conservation enthusiasts will enjoy our time spent visiting protected areas, where important work is being done to help the endangered species of Orang Utan, the elusive Bornean Sun Bear and the Proboscis Monkey. Witness turtle hatching, enjoy an immersive homestay and embrace the culinary goodness of all those savoury Asian flavours. Open to men and women, Walk Borneo is part of my Inside Track Series. And that means, we'll all be discovering it for the first time together. So, order up some leech socks. Get that hair in a braid... and join us for this bad-ass adventure! Details will be released in November. Tentative dates set for July 15 - 24th, 2024. Check back at shewalksthewalk.com for further details. ************************************************************** Some fun fact about Borneo: Did you know it's home to some of the smallest mammals in the world (pygmy elephant and the elusive sun bear) and the largest flowers on earth (wait until you see the Rafflesia arnoldii!)? Borneo is also home to one of South East Asia's tallest and mightiest peaks, Mount Kinabalu, standing at 4095M (13,435 feet) above sea level. We won't be climbing it on our tour, but you can join me (Sam) for an extension to knock this one off your bucket list! A top diving and caving Mecca, you'll want to build in some extra time to really soak up all that Borneo has to offer.
