A cover of the classic U.S. garage rock song originally released 'The Seeds' in 1965. From 'Worthless Trash' LP 1977 a.k.a. 'Punk Rock' LP 1977 a.k.a. 'This Is Punk Rock' LP 1977 Released in Australia, France, Italy, Spain, etc. with numerous different sleeves and art work. Also released on cassette tape (Germany) and 8-Track (Canada). But not in the U.K. Or U.S.A. for whatever reasons. Widely referred to since as 'Punksploitation' but this is disingenuous as it's musically very good, raw, garage punk. The album consisted of 8 original compositios and 4 cover versions. 'The Vacants' were formed by vocalist Vincent Sharp (Guy Greenhough) and guitarist Dan Druff (Jeff Janson) from Southend-On-Sea, England. They recruited another guitarist Tim Nervous (Tim Ryan) from an ad they placed in Ted Carroll's 'Rock On' record shop in London's Soho market in 1976. (Ted went on to form Chiswick Records with Roger Armstrong and Trevor Churchill). They rehearsed in Bromley with various drummers and bass players. They added drummer Martin Question (Martin Dale Chambers) when they started to record demos. Also added to record the album was Terry Clemson/Gibson of the 'Downliners Sect' who could swap guitar and bass duties with Jeff Janson as necessary. The band sadly never recorded a 2nd album and disintegrated after attempting to demo a punk version of 'Sweets For My Sweet'. Greenhough and Jansen went on to form punk band 'Mouth To Mouth'. Chambers went on to 'The Pretenders', 'Sound Ceremony' and 'Dave Stewart And The Spiitual Cowboys'. Clemson went on to form punk band 'F.U.2.' Tim Ryan doesn't seem to have done anything musically since. The album was given a limited CD release on 'Only Fit For The Bin Records' (Bin Liner Records) in 2010.
