Video by Zach Johnston I think this is one of the best songs I've written so far. It's written from the perspective of a fellow who is hoping for love, but has the wariness that comes from having hoped for love in the past and having those hopes dashed. Perhaps enough times that he has started believing it just might not be possible for him. And then the blooming of something that feels different. The gift of someone who seems to truly accept him. The song also nods towards the broken expectations and models that are given to men in how they should pursue love, the confidence they should project, the idea that they are supposed to be in control or have power over their partner. Models and expectations that so often turn toxic. -Favorite Line, “We’re sweating and we’re laughing and the band is only playing songs we know”
