4K UHD Blu-ray review of the 1978 Richard Donner classic superhero film 'Superman The Movie' starring Marlon Brando, Gene Hackman, Christopher Reeve, Margot Kidder and an all-star supporting cast. This release has met with some controversy due to the first 35 minutes or so being criticized as a poor video transfer. I look into that and hopefully will explain some of the complaints and possible misconceptions. Picture ratio is 2.40:1 and sound is Dolby Atmos although the default selection is Dolby Digital 5.1 so Atmos has to be selected within the Audio section of the menu. One other point to note is the Richard Donner commentary is on the Blu-ray disc and not the 4K disc which only has a Producer's commentary. Euphoria Pictures channel mentioned in this video is worth subscribing to so please take a look at Keith's content - he has some amazing collectibles in additon to his unrivalled disc collection: https://www.youtube.com/user/millerman9991 Cinema Retro magazine costs £19.95 per annum (3 issues per year at 4 month intervals) and is a high quality, glossy production packed with information about historic films, particularly from the 1960s and 1970s. Best of all is that it does not contain advertising apart from a page of notices at the back.
