The Conservatives are proposing a major reform in disability benefits which will see the biggest review of the system in over a decade, especially with the prevalence of mental health conditions rising. In a 12 week consultation, the government are going to be asking the fundamental question of could they be doing things better than they are now. Work and Pensions Secretary Mel Stride explains that the cost of these benefits is spiralling upwards, and the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) says by the end of this decade, there will be a 63% increase in costs around PIP - an increase of £13bn a year. Mike Graham wonders if the Labour Party will support the changes. Mel Stride says: “Labour do not have a single thing to say on benefit reform, but I'm not going to duck the issue.” #conservative #labour #benefits #reforms #disability #pip #government Click here for more from TalkTV https://talk.tv If you need any help visit: https://talk.tv/helplines
