First we're going to remove this surface mount capacitor. So we're going to use our solder wick to remove the solder from one of the terminals of the device. To do so we've trimmed a fresh edge, we're going to apply a small amount of flux to the tip and we're going to place the wick between the device and the tip of our soldering iron and we're going to remove the flux beneath. As we do so the solder flows into the wick and we've got a lot of solder here so we have to move it to several positions. Be sure that we get all the solder from beneath the device. With one terminal removed we heat the other device and grasp with tweezers which allows us to remove the device without damaging it.
