I collect various media formats and among them is the Selectavision Video Disc by RCA, also known as CED (Capacitance Electronic Disc.) The format was essentially movies on vinyl records. It was brought to market in the early 80's and had a short life, easily beaten out by VHS and Laserdisc. Nevertheless, it's fascinating technology to me and from time to time I will come across the discs at antique stores and thrift shops. Presented here is a RandomAcess CED titled "The Life and Work of Michelangelo" which was released in 1983. To my knowledge, it was never released on any other formats. I enjoy history a lot, especially of the Italian Renaissance era. For the sake of preservation and a bit of fun, I wanted to share it with all of you. The first part discusses Michelangelo's life, while the second part dives into extensive looks at his finest artwork. The audio and video may be poor at some points due to degradation of the vinyl, unfortunately this is entirely unavoidable when dealing with CED's. In my experience, I would actually consider this one of the best CED's in my collection as far as quality is concerned. I claim no ownership over this material and this channel is not monetized. This is strictly a preservation effort for collectors of hard-to-find media, history buffs and enthusiasts of fine art alike! Please enjoy and check out some of my other videos on this channel! :)
