In this video I'll be restoring this vintage blacksmiths leg vice (I'm from England so its a vice, not a vise). It started out very rusty, but underneath that rust there is still a very solid and useable vice. After disassembly I hit the whole thing with a wire brush on the angle grinder, and then covered it all in beeswax to prevent any more rust. The handle was obviously not original and had seen better days so I wanted to make a new one. I fashioned a quick clamping jig so I could used the drill press to bore a 16mm hole all the way through 2 short lengths of 32mm steel. I don't have a lathe so this was the next best way to drill out the 16mm holes. I then plug welded in a 16mm bar for the handle. In a future video I'll be making a stand for this that includes a small striking anvil, so stay tuned for that. Please like, share, subscribe, and leave a comment if you like what you see.
