Micro-sized bookshelf stereo systems became popular in the late 1990s. Here was one of Sony's last models of them, the CMT-NEZ30 from 2006. It was not their best, but still overall a very decent little system. CORRECTION: Sony's actual last micro bookshelf stereo system was the CMT-EH15 from 2009-2010, overall very similar to this one but with a cheaper cassette recorder with mechanical pushbutton controls.
