📽 JFCBS Operational Update May 2023 This week we are in Sweden, where from the 24th of April to the 11th of May, personnel from 14 nations took part in Exercise AURORA 23. The exercise involved over 26,000 soldiers, sailors, airmen and national guardsmen – drawn mostly from NATO countries and the Swedish Armed Forces – making it the largest exercise to take place in Sweden for over twenty-five years. In the Czech Republic, the Czech Army has been training Ukrainian soldiers in mechanised infantry operations. The Ukrainian soldiers received an intensive four-week training package, designed to prepare them for active duty, defending their homeland against Russia’s brutal war. "I’m a soldier and they are our brothers in need, so we try to do as much as possible," said Lieutenant Colonel Michal Voltr, CZE Army – Commander, 72nd Mech. Bn. And finally, in the Netherlands, JFC Brunssum hosted a visit of the Minister of Defence of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Ms Kajsa Ollongren. The visit was a chance for the headquarters to express its gratitude for the support provided by its host nation, as well as informing the Minister about NATO’s current priorities and activities. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Follow JFCBS on our social media pages: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/NATOJFCBS/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/NATOJFCBS Check our website for more: https://jfcbs.nato.int/
