The Royal Site of El Escorial is a historical residence of the King of Spain, located some 30 miles northwest of Madrid in the foothills.The El Escorial was built by Philip II, It is one of the Spanish royal sites and functions as a monastery, royal palace, museum, and School. Spanish Royal Guard is an independent unit of the Spanish Armed Forces dedicated to the military protection of H.M. the King of Spain and the members of the Spanish Royal Family,while the guard does participate in parades and other ceremonial events, it is a fully functional combat unit.
