This Women’s History Month, we’re honoring Julia Tuttle, the “Mother of Miami.” She is the only woman to found a major U.S. city. An innovative businesswoman, Tuttle dreamt of turning her land on the Miami River into a prosperous city. Her vision and perseverance paved the way for the City of Miami's incorporation in 1896.
