legend has it eren is still walking 00:00 - 00:32 i just love the way the song begins. i love it. 00:32-1:00 I really like the build-up from here and ai higuchi’s voice that really makes the song escalate in almost a pleading sort of way, creating a sense of urgency amidst the otherwise calm song setting 1:07-1:46 love at first listen. this chorus really feels like “this is the end’, the drums really give it a sense of finality/epilogue vibe to it. I love it so much. This chorus is the actual music equivalent of “because I was born into this world.” “We are born free.” 1:46- 2:26 (ಥ﹏ಥ) 2:26-2:56 this instrumental break is so gorgeous, I love the flute and the bass that goes so heavy here, an odd combination that surprisingly works so well. I can actually imagine this play during paths. 2:57 - 4:18 I am so happy for the final season we got eren focused op and eds. I think its a brilliant writing tactic to take away the main character’s point of view and just leave it to us, like the rest of the characters, to pick on their motives from their actions solely. So to have a smidge of Eren's pov from the op and ed is just very delightful because we were robbed of his point of view in the show post-season 3. That scene of eren walking in the flower field with his hair down is so oddly emotional to me. he’s tainted, but he’s our eren. he’s done some messed up shit, but we grew up with him, and to say goodbye to him will always hurt. This ed feels like a penance. 4:18 I especially adore the way the flames are a direct parallel to the Trost arc, the flames there burned everything around eren, representing his urge to fight, but here, the flames burn and consume him, ending it all.
