En este caso cabe mencionar grandes luminarias pianistas como, Mariam McPartland, Hazel Scott, Joanne Brackeen, Carla Blay, Geri Allen. Lynne Arriale, Mary Lou Williams, Patrice Rushen, Patricia Barber y la lista sigue y sigue..., Pero eso no es mas que nombres que nosotros conocemos dentro de Los Estados Unidos y Canada. Ahora bien por muchos años Japon esta bombardeandonos con un grupo de súper estrellas en el jazz y para mencionar algunas de ellas: Junko Onishi, Oyako Shirasaki, Toshiko Akiyoshi, Ayako Shirasaki, Aki Takase, Asami Ueda...
