Welcome to an introduction to the US Constitution, a 2ND GEN production. The American Constitution, everybody talks about it, but what is it really? The answer is simple.Think about the Constitution as being made up of three separate parts that serve three separate functions. Part one of the US Constitution consists both of preamble, which basically means an introduction, and it also consists of the seven articles. In the most simplest terms, it provides a blueprint of how America's government will be structured and operated. Part two consists of the first 10 amendments, the Constitution, or more popularly known as the Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights guarantees certain inalienable rights to the American people and serves as a protective shield for individuals from potential abuses from the US government. Part three consists of the remaining 17 amendments. An amendment is a change or an addition to the Constitution. These 17 amendments were ratified in the decades and centuries after the original constitution was ratified. Together, parts one, two and three make up the current constitution we know and love today. Is all of this making your head spin?
