Each stat is given a random value between 0 nd 15 - Attack, Defense, Speed, and Special - and it's HP DV is derived from these values. 0 is the worst possible value and 15 is the best value. By testing our runs on 0 DVs, we are basically seeing what is possible if you got the worst luck imaginable, a Pokemon with rock-bottom stats in every category. The odds of getting a 0DVs Pokemon are 1/65536. Minimum Battles: This means we are taking the fewest number of battles possible to complete the game. In other words, we NEVER fight wild Pokemon or extra trainer to level up. This forces us to look into the movepools more carefully to find solutions to difficult fights, rather than just saying "Oh well, it's too hard, I'll just go level up" The Badge Boost Glitch: In Generation 1 of Pokemon, there is a glitch where you can boost ALL of your stats whenever ONE stat is adjusted up or down. Basically, there are four badges that give a 12.5% boost to one of your stats - the Boulder Badge gives a boost to Attack, The Thunder Badge boosts Defense, the Soul Badge boosts Speed, and the Volcano Badge boosts defense. These are all normal and expected. However, whenever we adjust one of our tats with move, like Amnesia boosting Special or Agility boosting Speed, the game incorreting re-applies all of our other stats' badge boosts on top of their normally boosted levels. So if we use 6 Groths to boost our Special and we have the Boulder Badge, the game will apply SIX 12.5% boosts to our Attack stat in addition to raising our Special normally. That is a compounding rate, so the actual effect is to raise our Attack to Double its; original value for 6 badge boosts. This effectively makes badge boosts 50% as trong as normal stat altering moves for the same stat, but it is also Possible to raise on stat, such as Defense with 6 Defense Curls, and then rise it further with a second badge boosting move, like Agility. This is the Pokemon equivalent of going Super Saiyan. The Gameshark code for 0DVs in Yellow Version: 010085D1 010086D1
