In a recent video on the Pineal Gland, a suggestion made in the book I read from said that one should take an iodine supplement to help remove heavy metal toxins from the body. This led me to investigate the benefits of iodine on the whole and I found many. While iodine is mainly associated with the thyroid, it actually has many nootropic effects as well, and is linked with reduced brain fog and fatigue. It's also linked with the skin, and I've found that my dry hands have reduced after supplementing with iodine.
