November 1990. At this time there was no speed limit on pit road. Ricky Rudd roared into the pits on lap 300, lost control, spun 180 degrees and slammed broadside into Bill Elliott's parked car. The rear tire changer on Elliott's crew, Mike Rich, was caught and crushed between the two cars. Rich sadly died of cardiac arrest in an Atlanta hospital. RIP Mike Rich.
