On September 28, 2023, Bedford Police Patrolman Thompson observed the driver of a Hyundai Elantra traveling at 53 miles per hour (MPH) in a 35 MPH zone. He attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver initially kept going. Eventually, the 20-year-old driver pulled into a parking lot. The woman admitted to being too intoxicated to drive and she refused to perform standardized field sobriety tests. She was placed under arrest for DUI and was transported to the Bedford police station. She submitted to an evidential breath test and the result was 0.251% BAC (more than 12 times the legal limit for someone under 21 years-old). In a surprise twist, her mother refused to come and pick her up, so she was transported to the Solon police station, where she remained for 8 hours until she sobered up. Her charges and the outcome of her case are discussed at the end of the video.
