This race was something special. Since I can't race varsity this year, I decided to pop in a collegiate 8k. I didn't know what to expect because I had no idea what the competition would be like, but I wanted to shoot for the win! I've never run an 8k before so the strategy was to go out with the pack for the first 6k and then finish with everything I had for the last 2k. Thats exactly what I did. The race went out insanely slow at a 16 minute first 5k and then I closed hard to finish the 8k in 24:59. Second place came through in 25:11. I was stoked! Felt so good to have all the hard work and sacrifice pay off. Super excited about this race and what the rest of the season holds. Also, so grateful for my team coming to support and watch!
