On April 15, 2024, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast “above normal” rains in the country for the upcoming southwest monsoon period from June to September. This forecast comes after a gap of 8 years. The last time when the IMD said the rains are going to be above normal was in its April forecast was in 2016.
