With the new variant and children returning back to schools across America, financial analysts are wondering what the near future holds for the economy, and if a fourth stimulus check may be necessary to keep us all afloat. Financial experts believe that “super sellers” such as Walmart, Costco, and Target will be the big winners when the figures are revealed, as millions of Americans used their stimulus checks on everyday groceries and goods over the past 18 months. Joe Feldman, senior managing director at Telsey Group, explained: “Second-quarter numbers will be fine, but they will likely be more cautious about the second half of the year. The delta variant may delay the recovery.” With so much uncertainty in the economy and millions of Americans still struggling financially, I believe that a fourth stimulus check is necessary to keep us on the path towards a full recovery. President Biden announced a historic expansion to the nation’s food stamp program, providing a 30% increase to struggling families across America collecting SNAP benefits. This new expansion will give more than 40 million Americans about 30% more to spend on groceries, with an average boost to $157.24 from $121 per person, per month in SNAP disaster relief funds. Stacy Dean, deputy undersecretary for food, nutrition, and consumer services, explained: "To set SNAP families up for success, we need a Thrifty Food Plan that supports current dietary guidance on a budget. Too many of our fellow Americans struggle to afford healthy meals. The revised plan is one step toward getting them the support they need to feed their families." With nearly 12% of the total U.S. population collecting food stamps, or the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), this added boost in stimulus funds will help millions of Americans keep food on the table during these crazy, uncertain times. Many states have either handed out or plan to disburse a fourth stimulus check of their own to eligible citizens. Here are the states that are currently offering their residents with a fourth and even fifth stimulus check: California is paying out a fourth stimulus check and fifth disaster relief payment of $600 thanks to the Golden State stimulus program. Colorado will be paying out stimulus checks for $375 who received at least one unemployment payment between March 15, 2020, and October 24, 2020. Maryland will be providing stimulus checks for $500 for families and $300 for individuals who filed for the Earned Income Tax Credit. New Mexico is in the process of disbursing $5 million to residents who didn't qualify for previous stimulus checks and federal payments. Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee are looking to provide $1,000 stimulus checks to full-time teachers and administrators, with part time teachers in Michigan bringing in $500. And finally, $2,000 stimulus checks will be given to staff who return full-time to classrooms next month in the great state of Texas.
