A short introduction about CPU delidding, what is it all about and a guide how to do that using an Intel mainstream CPU like the 7350K in this example. Delidding has been very relevant for a high-end overclocked PC since the launch of original mainstream Ivy Bridge like the 3770K. Using liquid metal between the die and the IHS could easily result in 15 to 20 degree temperature improvements when using a strong watercooling on the CPU. It is still somewhat relevant even with the soldered Coffee Lake CPUs like the 9900K, as you can still delid them with the dedicated tools, and you can gain quite a bit when using liquid metal between the CPU die and the IHS.
