We love walking around it photographing the blue and green sea glass. And of course we pick up pretty pieces to turn into jewelry! We'll show you how we turned a found piece of sea glass into a pendant using a bail. Then we'll show you how to put together a beachy sea glass necklace with a starfish charm! Here's a step by step video we made showing how to glue the bail of the sea glass, how to put the charm on the chain, and how to attach the clasp. Follow along then use the directions below to make your own! How To Make A Beachy Sea Glass Necklace Tools & Materials Sea glass Pendant bail, gold Starfish charm, gold 16" Pearl bead chain Barrel clasp, gold 3 Jump rings, gold E6000 Glue Chain-nose pliers Round-nose pliers Directions 1. To turn a piece of sea glass into a pendant, you'll need a pendant bail. This is a jewelry finding that has a flat area to glue to an object like a shell or a piece of sea glass. It has a built-in loop at the top to feed a chain through. To use the pendant bail, put a dab of glue on the flat area. 2. Place the sea glass onto the gluey flat area of the bail. 3. Set bail and sea glass aside to cure. 4. To assemble the necklace, start with the starfish charm. It will need a jump ring in order to hang forward on the chain. Open the jump ring using two pliers. Hold the right side of the jump ring with one pair of pliers and the left side with the other. Open the jump ring by pushing one set of pliers toward the table as you push the other side up towards the ceiling. 5. Hold the jump ring with the pliers. Slide the starfish charm into the open jump ring. Then lay the pearl bead chain across the open jump ring. 6. Use both pliers to close the jump ring basically repeating the steps you used to open it, but in reverse. 7. Slide the chain into the opening of the pendant bail. Center the sea glass pendant on the chain. 8. Open a second jump ring using the two sets of pliers. Feed on one side of the clasp. 9. Next feed on the end of the chain. Close the jump ring. 10. Open the last jump ring. Slide in the other side of the clasp and the other end of the chain. 11. Close jump ring. You can use this same technique to turn all kind of found objects into pendants. We have made necklaces with sea shells, a smooth stone, a foreign coin, and keys! Happy Crafting!
