Last year, Sri Lanka declared bankruptcy and reached an agreement in principle with the IMF that was supposed to be finalised by the end of 2022. The $3 billion bailout has been delayed and Sri Lanka's major creditors, China and India, have to agree to write down the debts before any money is released. Sri Lanka is seemingly trapped between two superpowers with neither one wanting to blink first. Economics Editor Ben Chu examines how India and China are vying for influence in Sri Lanka from the island nation's politics to its infrastructure. This film was produced by Scarlett Barter and Zaufaran Mohamed and filmed by Jack Garland.
