AAA projects 1.9 million North Carolinians will hit the roads this July Fourth holiday season. It’s a longer travel season this year, running from June 29 to July 7. A big reason for that is remote work. "People can have the ability to work remotely, so they leave earlier because they say 'I can reach my destination and then set up shop and work remotely,” director of public affairs for AAA Tiffany Wright said. She expects the busiest day on the road to be during rush hours on July 3. “If you can avoid, you know, the afternoon and evening hours, that's when you're probably going to see the most congestion," Wright said. INRIX, a provider of transportation data and insights said Sunday, July 7, will also be bad as people return home from their vacations.
