In this video you can hear my rendition of Händel's wonderful Largo “Ombra Mai Fu” (HWV 40) from the opera "Xerxes" played on my Hauptwerk organ. I have chosen to use the sample set of Noordbroek, created by Sonus Paradisi. "Ombra mai fu" ("Never was a shade…"), also known as "Largo from Xerxes" or "Handel's Largo", is the opening aria from the 1738 opera Serse by Händel. It is an extremely well-known piece arranged for many instruments and in this video for the organ. The opera was actually a commercial failure and only lasted five performances in London after its premiere. That's pretty hard to think of today given the succes the opera has received :-) ____________________________________________________ SUPPORT MY WORK ON YOUTUBE BY BECOMING A MEMBER AND GET MORE CONTENT The most important thing is that the people watching my video enjoy them and hopefully subscribe to my channel.
