This is a doll and experiment kit, so it comes with a fashion doll wearing a gorgeous sequined gown like the one worn by McKeyla on the show. The doll's gown features nude mesh cut-outs on the side, and it is accessorized with platform shoes that have translucent heels, a silvery jacket, and dangly earrings. The doll also wears a purple purse with chain strap that really opens. For the experiment portion of the kit, kids get a light-up lip gloss tube and a pipette. You'll need to provide two types of oils and food coloring or a flavored, colored beverage. All you do is fill the lip gloss tube halfway with one type of oil, then fill it the rest of the way with a second type of oil and add two drops of food coloring. When you turn the tube from side to side, you'll watch the “lava” bubbles move. Turn on the lip gloss tube to make the bubbles light up. The back of the box gives some scientific background on why mixing oil and food coloring creates the lava effect. Basically, food coloring is water with some pigment mixed in, and oil and water don't mix.
