Is 2 million dollars enough to retire at 55? Retiring at 55 is not just about the number. There are other things to consider, like where your money is located. You will need to bridge the gap between 55 and 59 1/2. IRA's and Roth IRA's carry a penalty for early access before 59 1/2. That's why I am a big believer in the three buckets: Tax Free, Tax Deferred and Taxable. Other things to consider is health insurance, when to take social security and debt going into retirement.
