Производство Yamaha YZF-R7 было мелкосерийным для того что бы участвовать в гонках по супербайку!Всего было выпущено 500 штук .Причём на момент продажи за цену R7 можно было купить два новых Yamaha YZF-R1, который являлся флагманом «Ямахи» в сегменте спортивных мотоциклов. Сердцем Yamaha YZF-R7 являлся 749-кубовый форсированный двигатель от Yamaha YZF 750, с 5 клапанами на каждый из четырёх цилиндров., которые вместе с шатунами изготавливались из титанового сплава. За подачу топлива отвечал инжектор. Мощность двигателя была искусственно ограничена из-за требований к максимальной мощности,предъявляемых некоторыми странами, но YZF-R7 имел огромный потенциал к «раздушиванию». В заводском состоянии мотоцикл имел 106 л.с. и 72 Нм крутящего момента, но путём включения дополнительных форсунок ( «с завода» отключенных) мощность можно было увеличить до 139 л.с.,а установка специального гоночного кита увеличивала её и вовсе до 162 л.с.Как вы видите это была действительно Ракета! Теперь переходим к новичку 2021г,который гордо носит то же название - Yamaha YZF-R7.Главным разочарование для фанатов стало то ,что новинка разработана на базе популярного нейкеда Yamaha MT-07 и комплектуется 689-кубовым двухцилиндровым рядным двигателем,который с 270-градусным коленвалом выдаёт максимальные 73,4 л. с на 8750 об/мин,и 67 Н-м крутящего момента на 6500 об/мин.И это совсем печально так как с этими характеристиками R7 пришла на смену легендарного Yamaha YZF-R6 ,снятого с производства в 2020г из-за нового стандарта евро5.Поэтому Внешний вид новинки практически копия последней R6.
