What is the best way to get XLR Audio from a mic like a Shure SM57 Into a 3.5mm (1/8th") mini mic Input jack on a camera like a Sony NEX-7 or A7r or other Nikon or Canon DSLR? Is an adapter cable the answer? Should I carry another piece of kit like a Zoom H1 or H4n or a simple interface box like a Beachtek DXA-2T or something with a pre-amp like a JuicedLink RM202 Riggy-Micro Dual-XLR Preamplifier? PS: I use and like Mogami mic cables. Would this adapter do the trick: Mogami Gold Stereo Mini (3.5mm) Male to 3-Pin XLR Female Microphone Cable - 1.5' - http://www.amazon.com/Mogami-GOLD-XLRF-MINI-018/dp/B001J981KC By the way my Giant Squid lav mics work great just plugged direct into the cameras. Let me know your thoughts. Here's a test of the juicedlink RM222: http://youtu.be/njPS5vXMRt8 Also see this test of some of the cables mentioned: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eP_CWn8cmIg and this custom Mogami cable: http://youtu.be/j4dtCyD4XfI
