We come to the final and most dissonant interval of the major scale, the major seventh interval. Played by itself the major 7th interval sounds particularly bad with it being one fret away from the very consonant perfect octave. But it can sound beautiful in certain contexts like, for example, major 7th chords around which we can play major 7th arpeggios. On the guitar fretboard the major seventh can be played 11 frets (or 5,5 tones) up one string, up 6 frets on adjacent strings, or up 1 fret with a string ski[ (e.g. string 6 to 4). A neat trick to easily find the major 7th interval is to start from the octave shapes and drop the higher note down one fret to quickly identify the major 7th.
