How was your week? I spent mine eating lots and reading through The Hunger Games trilogy... I'm absolutely obsessed. "The Hanging Tree" appears in the final novel in the series, as a haunting song that Katniss sings for the mockingjays. When I first read these lyrics, I couldn't shake the melody that immediately popped into my head — I had to arrange and record it! I tried to give it as accurate of a mood as I could, and I played around with the mockingjay harmonies that Katniss mentions to stay true to the feel of the novel. This is a fairly disturbing song (as is its context in the novel) but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless. I truly find this story inspiring. Thanks for listening! :) (Also, because I'm certain people will comment on this, I am aware that the book says "be" and not "seem" - I changed this wording because I personally thought the alliteration came easier when sung!
