This video walks you through the steps of how to build a raised garden retaining wall, to edge outdoor flower beds, using Ladera wall block from Pavestone. Ladera wall blocks are a durable and more stable alternative to dry stack stone; they are pre-cast concrete wall block pieces, and building the wall does not require cuts or retaining wall caps. The materials for this particular landscape design project included mulch, flowers and small bushes, in addition to the paver base, sand (for leveling), wall block and construction adhesive used for the actual wall build. Also, always take proper safety precautions when working with cementitious materials (like QUIKRETE Construction adhesive) – wear safety glasses and nitrile gloves. Step-by-Step Instructions for building a raised garden wall with Ladera wall blocks: 1. Decide where you want to place or build your retaining wall, and mark it with a string line or spray paint. 2. Dig down to allow for the wall’s foundational support. Project tip: A strong, level base is essential to successfully building a raised garden retaining wall. 3. Place base and tamp. 4. Place sand, tamp and ensure level. 5. Place first course of Ladera wall block, and ensure level. 6. Using QUIKRETE construction adhesive to adhere courses together, place the second course and follow suit until the wall has reached preferred height. Ensure level after each course is placed. 7. Place landscape fabric on the interior of the wall. 8. Backfill the space with dirt and preferred landscaping filler (mulch, landscape rock, flowers, shrubbery, etc…). 9. Enjoy! *Always make sure to adhere to proper building codes and restrictions, when taking on a new project.
