After posting my review of the new Sony a7IV yesterday, I received a lot of comments asking for a comparison to be made between the a7siii and a7IV but in 1080p rather than 4k. Why would you want to shoot in 1080p? 1080p is still a great option going into 2022 as it is the resolution most people will be viewing your content at regardless! Along with this, the 2 biggest drawing factors are the reduced file sizes and the reduced stress on your computer when it comes to editing. For example, all sample footage used in this video and the final finished video came in at a total of just under 9GB HOWEVER, the a7IV review video I posted came in at 8.9GB on its own, and if you include the original files used to edit (Which were only 4k 24fps keep in mind) the total video project was over 35GB! I am also currently editing on a new M1 Pro MacBook Pro which handles this footage EXTREMELY well, however, my custom-built gaming laptop with 32GB of ram and a 2060 STRUGGLES HARD, even when editing in a 1080p timeline and on half or quarter resolution. If you would like to download some sample clips from both the a7IV, a7siii and a7iii it can be done so here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1WbYOyyn1CDI-dpBBAsmuoc1Ef0vgTOBj?usp=sharing This link will stay up until I run out of space on my Google Drive and need to clean it up haha If you have any questions or would like to see any other comparisons, please drop them in the comments and I'll do my best to create a video about them, after all, this is how this video came to be!
