The talk is about demonstrating that there is still a necessity to promote feminism in history today and the benefits that this provides for women in terms of fighting stereotypes. I talk about two women, Ching Shih and Queen Melisende as a way of demonstrating this. It is also more generally about a need for greater diversity in academic fields and the impacts on society when it is missing. Bella is a student at Francis Holland School who plans to study history at university and in the future pursue a career in intrastate conflict resolution. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
