Demare) Disco Gramofono 1928 (Recorded in Argentine; Spanish edition) NOTE: Agustin IRUSTA (b.1903 in Rosario, Argentine, 1903 – d. 1987 in Caracas, Venezuela) - Argentinian tango singer, songwriter and composer. He began to sing in his adolescence in his hometown. While performing his military service, Irusta met the renowned creator and compiler of native and folk music Andrés Chazarreta, who gave him first singing and guitar lessons. In early 1920s in Buenos Aires, Irusta formed a vocal duet with Roberto Fugazot, accompanied by gutarrist Humberto Correa (displaced in 1927 by the pianist Lucio Demare). In 1926 the trio recorded their first side for the Victor. In later years they were presented on Radio Cultura and were hired by maestro Francisco Canaro to sing with his popular dance orchestra. It’s also Francisco Canaro who recommended them to sing in Paris with the tango orchestra led by his brother, Juan Canaro. After their debut in Paris, they traveled to Madrid where Irusta formed the Orquesta Tipica Argentina, with which he performed in various countries of both Americas, to finally come back to Buenos Aires. In 1933 they were back in Spain, where they were featured in the sound movies, which earned them enormous popularity in Europe.The onset of Spanish Civil War made them return to Argentina, where they stayed until the end of the 2nd WW. They continued their successful performances after the war in the US, Cuba, Mexico, Panama and in Europe, including France and Spain, and performing also in tv and film.
